Identification
Distribution
From Burma to Thailand, Vietnam and southern China.
Taxonomy
Two subspecies:
- G. s. striatus - Known from Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Hainan. Has declined drastically in much of this range, and no modern records
- G. s. sinicus - southern China (Guangxi and Guangdong) and Hong Kong. Rarely reported now away from Hong Kong.
It was formerly included in Rufous-rumped Grassbird.
Habitat
A grassland specialist, known from wet lowland grasslands in most of range but largely restricted to hill grasslands (over 500m) in Hong Kong
