Taxonomy

This species and Brown-throated Sunbird were recently split from each other. Prior to the split the common species was called Plain-throated Sunbird.

Subspecies

Two subspecies are recognized[1].

  • A. g. birgitae - northern Philippines (Luzon, Mindoro and Catanduanes)
  • A. g. griseigularis - Philippines (Samar, Leyte, Sakuyok, Camiguin Sur, northeast Mindanao)
