Hello, Today atop a visable hill I noticed a number of birds perched on a guy wire which supports a telecoms tower. In the attached photo I was able to ID two Eurasian Collared Doves and a Chestnut Tailed Starling. As well out of the frame even further up the wire were 4 Red-vented Bulbuls...

Hello, I was looking out the window of a vehicle waiting in a line for a couple of minutes , and I noticed three birds at least similar to herons (I think) within my view. First I saw a couple of Indian Pond Herons (I feel most secure about this ID) Then a large white egret. (Great Egret, I...

    Bangladesh - Cox's Bazar

Hello, I was along the shore at a spot where there is a sand spit of land which becomes more or less connected to rest of the shore depending on tide. This is my first best morning to go birding since COVID-19 first started to cause movement restrictions months ago. I certainly saw two plovers...

I had a very birdy 5 minutes looking out the window of room this afternoon and was able to identify 9 species of birds on the hill across the road. But looking at the snapshots I took, I suspect there may have been a tenth species there. One of the birds I saw was a Black drongo. (See photo...

Cox's Bazar Bangladesh Uncertain of these birds

Hello, I am finding myself in a new location and so all the birds around here are new for me. I wonder if my guess of these being a male and female Oriental Magpie Robins might be right. I do not know if that species has white outer tail feather or not so I am not at all sure of my guess. Best, z

Hello, Yesterday while I was watching the walled garden at the location I am staying in in Aden, Yemen, a group of 7 little birds desended. Yemen, Aden, Brown bird in the garden

Today I noticed a bird I have not seen here before. I guess it must be a flycatcher, so perhaps a Spotted Flycatcher or Gambaga Flycatcher. It was pretty good fit for either of those. Pretty good, but at least according to the illustration I have in Porter & Aspinall Birds of the Middle East...

Hi, After what seemed like a long cold winter, spring migration of waterfowl is now happening around Edmonton. UAE Dubai shorebird . June 8th

This is a photo of a bird I saw while at the Ra's al-Khor wildlife sanctuary in Dubai. I guess it sort of looks like a juvenile Red-necked Phalarope, but based on how it is feeding (walking around in shallow water, often together with a Black-winged Stilt), I am not thinking that is a phalarope...

Hello, I saw a bird (glimpsed?) which I did not recognize today. It flew past me as I was standing on the front step of my office. Eastern Afghanistan Hawks Dec. 17

Hello, today I was watching hawks flying above a nearby hill, and believe I am able to understand most of what I saw, but I am far from certain. I was viewing all from a distance of up to 2 km, so I do not have very great photos, but I have tried to attach what I was able to take. Photos 5713...
