    House Sparrows were not ringed in the 70's and 80's because "there was no reason to ring them". Consequently the decline was picked up much later and with less certainty than it would have been.

    There are thought to be two birds, present since about 20th - two seen by birders but not the finder on 26th and the earlier date by a non-birder the quote being "well over a week" on the 26th.

    It was raining Ouzels at Red Rocks this morning... I laid bins on 6 (3 of which were silent) and failed to see one bird/flock that was calling loudly. Raining Wheatears too

    It drifts a little west on the tide (and you can see the sea this morning!) It is usually off the old Life boat station at low tide and drifts to about the east most green buoy at high tide. Its always seen in the closest flock c.7000 - but that might be because when its not in the close...
