Just for fun try adjusting your IPD when you see CA off-center. I found there's a "perfect" IPD setting that removes most, if not all, visual distractions. Since I wear eyeglasses I never raise the eyecups.

I am truly bothered by CA in bins and I've disposed of more than one alpha because of it. The Swarovision 10X50, like all bins, will display CA if you go looking for it, especially if you tilt the bin abnormally. I recently used mine for three weeks of non-stop birding in all type of lighting...

I own the 10X50 and 8.5X42 SV's. Color and contrast are all but identical, though the extra magnification and slightly larger AFOV in the 10X50 can fool the eye. CA, something I cannot and will not tolerate, is extremely minimal in both models and non-intrusive. I never see it in a normal...

Enjoy! PS Stabilize it on a clear star field and get back to us.

It's a term more suited to musical compositions.

Lighting is everything and no high transmission binocular can compensate for very bright conditions. I only enjoy subdued lighting conditions where the 10X50 is a stunner. If there's a lot of sun, heat shimmering or other atmospheric disturbances the view is often boring. Give me an early...

    New bin, EL10x50SV

I compared a 10X50SV with a 12X50 SV side-by-side over a period of three days in daylight. The only difference was magnification. Unless two bins are compared at the same time, under the same conditions conclusions are suspect. Memory is not what we think it is. At least that's what I remember...

SV 10X50 Eyecups and rain guard are tapered. Rain guard inside diameter near top ~ 42mm (it tapers from there).

Thank you! Those commissions just keep rolling in... http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=293766 Seriously, enjoy. I just checked out the atmospherics in preparation for the Perseids and it should be a great show from the driveway. The 10X50 SV is so enjoyable I might forgo a few hours...

You need to consider the area(s) of your objectives before comparing what they do or don't do. That 65mm scope delivers more photons at 30X (2.16mm exit) than the 42mm does at 8X (5mm exit). Area 65 mm = 3318 Area 42 mm = 1385

I compared the 12X50 and 10X50 SV's side-by-side over a period of days. The 12X was definitely not for me. The 10X50, however, is magical. My guess is if you liked the 12X50 you'll really like the 10X50.

That break-in period is exactly what most lubricant free designs require. It was true for my Leica and THREE Swarovisions. I wish the naysayers (most are non-owners) would pay attention to the experience of others.

I don't think the 10X50 SV is "specialized" at all. It's a fantastic all-purpose instrument. BTW, I received a single binoculars, not a pair. Was there a special I missed?
