    Onward to Bittell where apart from singing Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs there were 6 adult Common Terns feeding on Upper - do these birds nest on Lower? I couldn't see any rafts or islands..... A few hirundines including a few Sand Martins present. A single, past its best, Bee Orchid spike opposite...

    Hi Laurie.....the Bittell Shrike fields are on the Redditch/Birmingham Road just south of junc 2 of M42. Get off junc 2 north bound and left along slip road then left again ...signposted to Alvechurch.....park in layby on left and cross road. Shrike could be in any of the 2 fields you can see...

    I visited it some years ago after a kingfisher and went down from the Mill...I too found it a bit inaccessible as well.It didn't help that it was damp and overcast at the time.....but if it was visited regular then it looked to have some good habitats. Moseley bog does sound a bit grand though...
