Skua - Hartelpool Headland, UK (1 Viewer)

Seen this morning.

I think it's an Arctic Skua though it seemed more heavily barred below than the ones I usually see. I wondered if it maybe Pomarine?

No further photos - it was a long way out. Photos taken as it took off from the sea and headed away.

I'd be tempted to say Pomarine, as it just doesn't have quite the same "feel" as the Arctics I've seen - it looks a bit bulkier and the overall colour is a lot blacker rather than brownish, but having yet to see a Pom I may well be wrong.
 
Lack of double "under-covert" pale patch makes me believe it's not a Pom. Other features suggest to me a dark morph juv Arctic. My opinion. Please debate further...
 
Thanks for that. When viewing it I thought it was an Arctic Skua at the time. It was only on seeing the photos with the b&w barring that I wondered if it was something different as I'd not seen that before.
