I drove through France last Friday and saw from the car a brief look at a soaring raptor - to give an idea of size my first thought was a type of Kite but it did not have a forked tail as with red Kites. I only saw the underside which was a very pale uniform colour - pale oatmeal beige if you understand but the wing tips were distinctly dark, probably black. The head was small and neat and the bird was gliding low in thermals - I can't be certain about the profile but the wings seemed fairly straight and level rather than 'V' shaped. The wings appeared narrow and the wing tips pointed rather than fingered.
This was all I could get at 130 kph with a head turning look - ny ideas what it could have been - I would think the black/dark wing ends would be the best distinguishing mark.
