Cheer pheasant - new location? (1 Viewer)

Hello. I sighted a pair of Cheer pheasant above Sin Gompa, Langtang NP in March this year at an altitude of c.10,0000 and would like to know if anyone else has seen Cheer this far east. Cheers! Iain

Hi Iain
Traditionally the best area to see Cheer Pheasant in Nepal is on the Jomsom Trek (I saw a pair below Ghasa in 2008). This is quite a big factor for birders deciding whether to do the Langtang or Jomsom treks so their presence at Sing Gompa is very interesting.
Could you give some more detail on whereabouts the birds were. I am doing the Langtang trek over christmas and will definitely have a look around for them. Also, news of sightings of local specialties from the area would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Joe
