Decided to rehash my patch.Periodically in the past posted threads on my local birding hotspot here.Hope to keep this one going!
Been seeing a lot of unusual species in my patch lately!Migrating early?Species that have been around for a week now are Pileated Woodpecker,Eastern Bluebird and Purple Martin.New today was an Osprey!
Still a few birds singing and lots of young ones around.
Nice selection of hawks were seen including the local Swainson's Hawk who chased me off!
Migration the other way should be starting soon.Should start seeing some missed birds not seen this spring in Winnipeg.

Here some photos of regulars,

Shorebirds.

Saturday,August 10

Approached my patch this time from the opposite side.Along the railway track encountered two families of Western and Eastern Kingbirds.Who have squabbling over a tree for weeks now!The other highlight were three Swamp Sparrows who flushed while walking.
Do not see many shorebirds in the city, obviously with the type of habitat there. But in my the patch there are six ponds that periodically have exposed mud.Today got lucky and saw Least Sandpipers,Spottted Sandpipers,Killdeer,Greater Yellowlegs and maybe a Lesser Yellowlegs.

Went for a walk after work today. In the one pond that caught my were a American Coot,Blue-winged Teal,Canvasback,Great Blue Heron and hundreds of geese!A regular who I see quite often was taking photos of the geese. In the bushes here were Palm Warblers,Common Yellowthroats and a few chickadees.Along the railway tracks were an American Kestrel,Northern Flickers,Eastern Bluebirds(refound in there usual place),Barn Swallows,Common Grackles and lots of brown jobs. One was a White-throated Sparrow but just heard.
