Digiscoping with Swarovski 80ATS and Nikon DSLR (1 Viewer)

I would like to try digiscoping with my Swarovski 80ATS spotting scope equipped with a 20-60X zoom eyepiece. I would like to use my Nikon D300S but also have a Canon A720 PS. I have read a number of recommendations for the DCA adapter, but of I am a bit leery of cantilevering the DSLR off the scope by the lens filter ring. I am thinking about the UCA adapter along with a Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 lens. Does anyone have experience with a similar configuration? Any suggestions also would be appreciated.
