2011 UK Orchid season updates (6 Viewers)

In rather bizarre news, my late flowering wild Helleborine is still in flower... November 1st has to be a record for a UK wild orchid, doesn't it? The really freaky part is there's a bud still about to open!

Orchids in November, whatever next!

Wow! That is the latest wild british orchid flowering I've heard of! Is it a broad-leaved helleborine?

Hi Mike,

I think so, yes. Although that said, the basal leaves aren't particularly wide nor particularly whorled. It's the same Helleborine that I mentioned earlier in the thread:

Those pictures were taken in early October, but it looks similar now except that there's only one bud left to open!
