Nikon rumours have the Nikon patent for a Nikon 300mm f4 with vr

and "one of the surfaces is marked as "Diffraction surface"

The more I think about it the more excited I am. If Nikon has discovered an 'effective' DO recipe - It can only be good for everyone wishing for effective, small, compact, light big lenses. Of course we are probably a few years away at best from seeing this (chances are we may never see it)
