Adaptability of early 2000 Nikon Camera Ring Attachments (1 Viewer)

Has anyone any experience getting early 2000 Nikon camera ring attachments to fit later camera models?

For example, the attachment below is for the P5000 Nikon 5mp camera, but I wonder whether it would fit the later 10mp model or indeed any other Nikon model.

As long the thread of the ring is similar in sizes with the newer cameras, it shouldnt be a problem

Thanks. But that was my question really, whether the ring would fit newer cameras. No easy way to find out!
