Anyone recommend a detailed book on Terns? (1 Viewer)

Malling Olsen & Larsson 1995 (Terns of Europe and North America) is probably the best available. Long out of print, but there are used copies on the market, particularly the Princeton (US) edition:
A new Helm ID Guide has been in prep for many years - WildSounds currently list it as available from end-Dec 2012, but the date seems to keep slipping...
Terns and Skimmers
Wilds, DiCostanzo
Available from the end of December 2012. Claudia Wilds, one of the world's most loved and respected field birders, died in 1997 and this book is her monument. The terns are amongst the most graceful of all waterbirds, inhabiting coasts, open sea, marshes, lakes and rivers. Most species are gregarious and colonial, and many are highly migratory, undertaking some of the longest migrations of all birds. Their appeal is enhanced by some notoriously difficult identification problems and this book is the first to address these for the entire family. The authoritative text by Claudia Wilds, who spent many years meticulously studying these difficult birds, has been completed by another tern specialist, Joe Di Costanzo, and is complemented by 32 superb plates by the talented young German artist, Christopher Schmidt. 300 pages.
Hardback £30.00

Can anyone help me out and recommend a good book specific to Terns?

1) Regarding the title "Terns and Skimmers" by Wilds & DiCostanzo, I came across a notice about 6+ months ago that the book had been cancelled. If anyone knows differently, that would be great news.

2) I agree with the selection of "Terns of Europe and North America" by Olsen/Larsson. It has great artwork, photos, and text. In case you're interested, I posted some sample photos and a brief review of this book a few years ago. You can see those at the link...HERE.
