Backwater Birding - Seaton, Devon (1 Viewer)

hello Birders,
The red breasted Fly, is a Compact little bird it wiil undertake aerial sorties as it did in our Apple tree, Its usually encounted in first winter plumage.
All birds can be recognised, by the diagonstic striking white sides, some 70,to 100 individuals, may be recorded in a good year, almost all seen in the autumn
Anyway, a Visit to the farm gate, 5.10pm 2 rails calling a Heron on the scrape attacking the Black heads. A cream Crown Dived into the reeds,
A worthwhile trip,
Whitford has been busy, 4 feild Fares calling well, the Migration turn around
is on the way, we cant wait.

2 This now local bird, eats spiders, insects, seeds, berries, add fat to its diet

We had to post our pic of the day,
Sometimes you just gain that special Moment,
Thanks, to all our birders who are enjoying our Garden, still trying to find out how early Our male Brambling is, Weve found a Report of a Male in Sussex on the 25th of Sept,
Ours as you all know, who Follow the Forum well Early, can any of our Local Birders inform Us of our Devon recorders, there welcome here as you all are
our birds our wonderful, hoping for some info, click on our pic you will love it, as we do,

Hello Birders,
A day with some great sigtings, Firstly A house sparrow with grey cheek patches, just like a tree sparrow in there case Black,
We hope to capture it soon,
Redwings here today great to here there calls to high for a pic,
We noticed a Bird, sticking its head out of our Weeping willow, whats that managed a pic,
No Superciliary Stripe, pale Under parts, A dagger Bill,
A large head, is it a Juvenile Icterine Wabler we think so, mine you weve never seen one Before, do we post a pic, absolutely Yes

Thanks to you all as Always,
The veiws of our latest pic taken at distance, were not counting it on our list
were just not sure, Hippolais warblers, are heavy looking, with plain faces,
Any imput is welcome, perhaps it is.
anyway Birders, passage migration is wonderful, were in no doudt with our Red Breasted Fly,

hello Birders,
We noticed a bird in our apple trees, taking aerial Sorties, a Very Bulkey looking bird, I had a very and i mean Very, Breif view of it down my scope,
A dark Eye & bill and A promidant Eye Ring.
The only thing we can say Weve never seen this Bird before,
Any help would be wonderful
Weve managed a terrible pic, Were Delighted to Gain Any thing,
It Just Looked so bulbous


From looking at the picture and the behaviour described I cant see anything other than a Chiffchaff

Though the bird in the photo is still a Chiff Chaff. The bird you put down as an Icky is also a Chiffy

Weve finished our new feeding station its Amazing,
On a odd note we have a, great tit with one leg & no tail.
theres so many Birds here we cant gain a pic yet,
its feeding OK,

The Solitary Sand is on Black Hole Marsh, a site regulary patrolled by some of the other 10+ birders in the area. If you would like to see birds around Seaton then ask one of them to give you a bell when they find something.

A Red Kite here 10am, barn owl calling 8.30pm & a few tawnys, glad to go in its cold, that only means to us, our Garden will be Amazing and soon,
