Best Bird of 2011 So Far (1 Viewer)

Sandhill Crane at Boyton Marshes. A long twitch, but a great bird with the added bonus of 2 fly-over Glossy Ibises and Willow Emerald Damselfly.

Watching a saw-whet owl cough up a pellet was awesome, as was a very rare black-throated gray warbler giving excellent views, but I'd have to go with watching a pomarine jaeger chasing around bonaparte's gulls.

Pallid Harrier at Garnock Floods. Two attempts, significant waits each time, half a day's annual leave and a train ride to get there. Well worth the effort.

Truly stunning Banded Pitta in Thailand in February and the Northern Waterthrush on Scilly for the UK whilst local area would be the Slaty-backed Gull.

Hampshire - Semip Sand,
UK - White-throated Robin whilst sat on the wall (me, not the Robin); a day in the Cairngorms with Snow Bunt, Dotterel & Ptarmigan
World - Red-tailed Comet (full tail-fanning glory), Titicaca Grebe (Bolivia), Caspian Snowcock in the snow (Turkey)

cheers, alan
