New to your group, but was in Melbourne visiting my son and took a trip to the Westgate Nature Reserve in Melbourne in August. I took a photo of a bird when I was there but I haven't been able to ID it.IMG_5155.JPG Any ideas anyone.

Hi earlspencersnr and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. It's an awkward angle, but I think it's a White-plumed Honeyeater. If you have pictures at another angle, there should be a white flash on his neck. Charming wee birds.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group.

Thanks for ID and I have a blurry confirmation shot.IMG_5158.JPG

Oh I'm so pleased you managed to confirm that Earl. I was beginning to think I might have to get confirmation from the ID forum, in case there was a similar species I didn't know about.

I so enjoyed watching these at Bowra Reserve near Cunnamulla, they were an absolute delight. Though I did see them elsewhere too on my trip.

All things Scottish can be found here. Also, keep an eye on threads titled something like Scottish Bashes; we try to meet up occasionally and they're always great fun. You'd be most welcome to join us on another if you can manage.
