County Louth (formerly Dundalk Bay) local patch. (1 Viewer)

I saw a few of the tinest lovliest Goldcrest birds again in Daisyhill woods yesterday ...... actually in the same trees I saw them in last year. I will not give up until I get a photo of one but not an easy task.

I saw a Buzzard I am pretty sure soaring so gracefully low over the Paupers graveyard yesterday about 7pm but low light so couldnt see colour clearly. I was looking at a photo of a Buzzard that morning so how I can say thats what it was .........

I noticed this bird near my house with large white patch on side and then thought but it looks like a Rook so very odd ........

I counted at least a dozen of these think Grey wagtails flying low and so fast past me on canal towpath ...... could see a flash of yellow each time. Then getting closer and closer to getting some photos of them when two cyclists sadly sent them flying off again .... Also lots of beautiful Moorhens and saw smaller than sparrow birds (not Wren or Dunnock) with heavily black streaked chests in hedges. Also dozens of lovely long tailed Tits.

Steve

Thanks ...... another few of puzzling beautiful one I query a Grebe but probably a duck I have overlooked in book and last think Lapwing though not great photo. Plenty of Curlews about in small flocks still but hate you to get close to them.

Looks like a great crested grebe and the last pic is a Lapwing. Ger.

Thanks again ..... a few more. I didnt think the legs long enough in first photo of grey bird also to be a Curlew and also could see a very white bird with the Grey Heron in second photo. I just couldnt figure the birds in third photo out and lastly Jackdaws were going up and down the chimneys of course but I thought fourth photo an odd jackdaw but is it just the angle or what?
I thought it was Great Grebe too from Eric Dempsey & Michael O Clerys great book and it was so so beautiful. My camera did not do it justice really and it moves a lot also. Also got photos of male Bullfinch and quite a few about and some birds kept making a repeated sip sip call ?

Couple of pics from Sunday from out along the Ardee Road. Goldcrest, Yellowhammer and two of a raptor - not sure of species - was thinking Sparrowhawk but can't make out any barring on the underparts. Also flushed owl presume long eared from hedgerow but only got poor view from behind. Have a pic but its not great. Also seems to be plenty of Redwing in the fields.
