Entry level Nikon D3500 with 70-300 mm? (1 Viewer)

I want to try bird photography having been a birder for a couple or years. I am wondering if the entry-level Nikon D3500 with a Nikon 70-300 mm lens would be serviceable to determine if this is a hobby I would like? I simply don't want to spend a bundle before I try the waters. What does the camera not have that mid range, popular birder cameras have?
Thanks,
Jarratt

I'd say it's a fair start point Jarrat, I started with a D5100 and kit lens, then added a Tanron 70-200 of course, if you do get into it, you'll always look for more 😉

It will be superb.
Second hand photography gear is great value for money, as long as it's warranted from a decent dealer.
And you lose less when the inevitable upgrade path starts.
