Feckenham (2 Viewers)

One cuckoo calling vigorously from the belt of woodland. A couple of whitethroats in voice. One reed warbler by the main pool and another by the pool with the fake heron. A real heron was standing by, unfazed by the model. A pair of coots was tending one chick.

Monday 14/6/21

Barney still in his (her?) nestbox but way more difficult to see thanks to intervening vegetation. That's also obscuring the route to the hide but from it one adult dabchick was chasing away a youngster. Must be a second brood on the way.

Is the Barny in the box in the middle field on way to the hide ?

I think that about describes it. In any case it's the only box you can see from Moors Lane and lately vegetation has obscured the best sight-line into that. I settle for binocular views since I don't have wellies to yomp across the marsh - probably for the best in terms of disturbance.

I thought I saw a box in the fields on the other side of the lane when you start walking from the car park.
Yes good its wet there as not allowed to disturb then at the nest......

Had my 1st BROWN HAIRSTREAK after over 10 years of searching. A few Males in the trees...hoping for some females later in month.....huge crop to pics.

Really drab day ( as was Tuesday ).....until this youngster showed up. It was really scared of the window being open in the hide and was flying all around. In the end if flew off towards the dragon pool. 1st King for so long here.
