Forum warbler year list (II) (3 Viewers)

Hi Dennis,

Missed out Wood Warbler (Phylloscopus sibilatrix) and Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) - I've had both of these this year (22 Apr; post at the top of this 2nd page).

Michael

Thanks Michael. They are properly noted.

updated totals:

38 of 279 "old world"
29 of 116 "new world"

How many can be found by our forum? Any guesses out there?

dennis

Thanks Dennis!

Have to see if I can add any more on my trip away this w/e, tho' I doubt it as I'm heading in the wrong direction for warblers (NW Scotland)

Is that Herefordshire [/B][/QUOTE]

nothing in herefordshire is classed as new! it's so far behind that even the old world is new.

By the way my warbler list is a pathetic 6:
sedge, garden, whitethroat, blackcap, chiffchaff, willow wobbler and Yellow -browed. Embaraassin I know, but I'm off to sunny norfolk next weekend so should add a few more.

Thank you Motmot and Swift. What a treasure trove of warblers!

Swift: I am using Clements "Birds of the World"(2000) as the checklist for this little exercise. As per that resource Prinias and Cisticolas are now members of the family Cisticolidae and won't be considered on this list. Of course to each his own. I must use the reference works I own.

As of now.....54 of 279 "old world" (19%)
46 of 116 "new world" (39%) reported

Thanks to all. This is quite an education for me.

Just finished my Great Global Bird Count.

Add Blue-winged Warbler and Black-throated Blue Warbler to the "new world" list. Now 48 of the 116 have been sighted.

I will be checking the G.G.B.C. totals for others that are reported.
