Hello all! I have a Carolina Wren Question (2 Viewers)

My pair of Carolina wrens built a nest in my dryer vent. I watched the male sing his heart out and they both worked so hard. Last week, they DISAPPEARED???? Any ideas on why this might have happened? This pair has been at my house in SW Virginia for two years. I'm heartbroken.

Hi, Kristi and welcome to the forum on behalf of the staff and moderators. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group. I can’t help with your question, so am going to move this to the garden birds area and hopefully someone with some insight will be along to answer your question.

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

I’m afraid I can’t answer your question.

Carolina wrens tend to live around 6 six years. It's possible one of the pair died and the other has gone off in search of a new mate.

Hi Kristi and a warm welcome from me too. Sorry to hear you've lost your wrens. Gsimonel could well be right on what has happened, but it's hard to tell really. I do hope you get wrens nesting again in your yard.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.
