Hello I took there photographs today near Drakes Bay, can I have help with the IDs please.
The first picture I think is a Variable Seedeater, the second picture the person who I was with today, Merlin and my book all give different answers. I thought Crimson-fronted Parakeet but I had been in the sun a long time;

I think it's a pitfall pic of red-lored parrot. The tail's too short and rectangular for the parakeet, the bill's the wrong colour with dark markings, and most importantly the red fully meets the white around the eyes. This doesn't happen in the parakeet. It's a pitfall pic as we can't see the greyish neck with its ruffling which would make it obvious
