Thank you for being part of this active and beautiful forum.
I started sketching 2 months ago; so far I have done 6 quick sketches. Four in pencil, then 2 in charcoal.
Have been a hobby photographer for 40 years, having had amazing underwater encounters with some fabulous species in the Red Sea, during the last twenty odd years. Then, when I retired in March 2020, the whole world turned upside down, and my dream of going to Australia to dive the Ningaloo Reef (which has more species of shark than any other on Earth), was overturned. So I started taking my camera to the local RSPB site and the surrounding marshes in the South Essex area, I have been very lucky and had a good base knowledge of the birds (Observers Book of Birds as a kid, thanks Mum!) that I was seeing, and hearing there. I spend a good few hours at the marshes every week (unless family duties prevent that). This year I am making a sketch book of some of the birds I see, for my eldest Grandson to inherit. If I get the courage to upload any pictures, please feel free to criticise them, I need pointing in the direction of improved art!

Hi JefO and a warm welcome from me too.

Hopefully I'll be able to see some of your pictures in the Gallery.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.
