Khao Lak February 2015 (1 Viewer)

I will be staying in the resort of Khao Lak for eleven nights from 1st February 2015 and I am having some trouble trying to find a flexible guide who coiuld take me to Sri Phang Nga for a couple of days photography/birding. Does anyone have any ideas or contacts?

Cheers

Hi Chris,

I cant help with the guide advice, but getting to Sri Phang Nga from Khao Lak in eg a rental car is straightforward enough, and there are directions on Thai Birding website. Its not that far away.

Once there you could, when we visited, hire a ranger to show you trails. Whether they would know any stakeouts other than for the obvious Banded Pitta I wouldn't like to say.

The rules and regulations of the park are a nuisance though, you have to leave the trails late afternoon, with a ranger coming to find us down the main waterfall trail and escorting us back to the accommodation area at 16:30. We did sneak back along the main track a little for some night birding.

The cafe also closes around mid afternoon so take supplies if staying in the accommodation.

Its a nice site, but trails are limited, and other than the main track to the waterfall, are steep and/or involve crossing streams.

Cheers,
