Manfrotto tripod and hide clamp (1 Viewer)

Do manfrotto tripod centre columns only fit in manfrotto hide clamps ?
I have a 055 manfrotto and I was wandering weather the centre column will fit in any hide clamp ?
Be it the Viking, opticron etc…

The manfrotto ones are very expensive comparatively but my thinking is that with the odd shape off the centre columns on manfrotto tripods you have to use their hide clamps

I have a Manfrotto 074 with 028 head. The connection is 3/8th whitworth. My hide clamp does not have a thread to accept the, or any, tripod.

third, no, there aren't universal standards for tripod columns. Some may be interchangable but that's trial and error.

Heads and tripods are generally interchangable between brands.
