Mourning bird nest issue (1 Viewer)

While I was away last week a mourning dove built a nest on a wire rack in my pool house. There is one egg. I dont care if she’s there except I upset her when I’m there. I sit in my “hut” every night to document, watch TV and smoke a hooka. I moved over as far away as I could. She initially flew around and sat on egg but I think the smoke bothered her. I want to place nest in a hanging basket and move it about 6 ft on other side of tv. It will still be at same height and under cover.
I would just go elsewhere but I have no other covered area and I work 10 hour days then have 4-5 hrs to document and this is my only space to de-escalate and keep my sanity. I don’t want to harm the bird or it’s egg. Please advise. She hasn’t come back in past hour I’ve been here. I won’t move her if she won’t go to egg if I do but I also won’t give up my space or hooka because my mental well being depends on it.

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum (y)
We're glad you found us and please join in wherever you like. ;)

I guess I would suggest trying to move the nest but if she ignores it then I would place it back to where it was. It's only for a few or more weeks and then it will hatch and move on in a couple of weeks so could you be kind and patient for a bit?

Hi, welcome to the forum. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group.

Hi Judy and a warm welcome from me too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

I am certain that it is illegal to move active nests in America, the same as it is in the UK.

I totally understand how your mental being is connected to your hook. Get a vape pen until the eggs hatch and the fledgling leave.
