mystery dead headless mallard found in my backyard (1 Viewer)

I recently found what looks like a decapitated grey mallard in my back yard

Several have suggested it was probably the work of a fox

I have never seen any mallards in my neighborhood (Rockville MD) before

Why would a fox decapitate it and only eat its head

The fox might have been disturbed while trying to carry it somewhere. The head is the easiest part to take of to satisfy the hunger. It does so with chicken around here... Could be a wild coloured domestic Mallard (a Runner or similar) from the neighborhood, couldn't it?
