I'm new to the forum, so greetings to all. I'm more a photographer than a birder ... but a month ago I got a message that perhaps I should be a birder.

The attached photo is the kind of thing that happens to someone who isn't looking for any birds (haha) ... anyway, enjoying the forum so far.

Best to all,

Hawk.jpgI just walked into the living room and there he/she was. Didn't have time to get my "real" camera/lens, so I just spent about 4-6 minutes looking at him/her and him/her occasionally glancing at me.

Hi theriza and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I hope we may be able to see some of your pictures in the Gallery too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Welcome to BF.
It's always necessary to give location and date with a photo as these are often essential to make an ID.
Your bird looks like a red-tailed hawk, so I guess it's in the Americas somewhere.

Ah, okay. This photo was taken in Washington, DC, December 7, 2022, approximately 1.5 miles from the U.S. Capitol.
