Opticron Imagic BGA 8x42 versus BGA SE 8x42 (1 Viewer)

I found for sale in Romania an Opticron Imagic BGA 8x42. The seller claims that it is the SE model but only Imagic BGA is written on the binoculars, so it is not the SE model. The price is very attractive only $ 170. If anyone had the opportunity to study both, I would like to know if the optics in SE are visibly superior to BGA. Thanks in advance for any information.

You should also check exactly which version of the Imagic BGA it is:

Imagic BGA (1999)
Imagic BGA PC – adds phase correction (2000)
Imagic BGA PC.ASF – adds aspheric eye lens (2002)
Imagic BGA PC.ASF T – new eyecup (twist type) and eyelens design (2003)
Imagic BGA PC.ASF T Oasis – adds Oasis prism coating (2005)
Imagic BGA SE – new rubber armouring, eyepiece optical design and body (magnesium) (2007-2016)
Imagic BGA VHD - new rubber armouring, adds ED objectives, adds oilphobic coating (Feb 2017-Jan 2021)

The simple answer is that the Imagic BGA SE is definitely superior optically due to the new eyepiece design.

HTH

Cheers, Pete
