Sparrow at Sani Pass, South Africa (1 Viewer)

Hi all, saw this sparrow at Sani Pass (nearing border of Lesotho), initially dismissed it as a Cape Sparrow but seems to lack wingbars and streaking on throat seems off.
Appreciate any advice on the ID!

Thanks in advance

Feels kind of like a bunting rather than a sparrow. I wonder if this is what a recently fledged Cape Bunting might look like. I can't find any pictures to match though.
