I have some friends from the North of England who want to see the roost and I am trying to find out the best time of year to visit this site. What I’ve found so far suggests “Winter”, which to me means November to February. Not having yet been to it myself I would appreciate any input about the best winter months for a visit.

I agree with "winter" having been several times. Best chance of the cranes coming in together though often just as the light goes altogether. Many Marsh Harrier plus chance of other stuff. Barn Owl and Woodcock are regular. Park in the Hickling Broad Visitor Centre car park and walk down approx. 1 hour before dusk. Wear warm clothes! I think anytime over winter but I usually go late November time.

Cheers

Many thanks, Jonno. I appreciate your advice and hope to get there in late November.
