Afraid it's not the best pic of the palps but as I was lining him up for a better shot he decided to do a flyer, didn't manage to get a look of the hindwing either! To the naked eye the palps appeared completely dark with contrasting white tips, but looking at them in the photo I can see they turn paler lower down. I've had 2 recent Copper Underwings both showing paler palps than this one hence I suspect that this may be my first Svenssons.
