SX40 Super Zoom (7 Viewers)

I seriously thought that the SX40 might disappear up its own tripod mount with the release of the '50' so it's really pleasing to see what all you SX40 owners have been getting up to!

I'm getting better at using it too.

Another one from Monday

I just liked this shot. SX40 does everything I want. I may be tempted by the SX60 when it appears, but the SX50 just doesn't seem a big enough upgrade.

Here's a few I took last week. The deer were quite a way off.

Nah that's definitely a heron! ;)
I was bought this camera last September and have loved it ever since. Took it to Madagascar for a month in October and a friend who was with me and owns a big SLR set-up has just bought the SX50 as mine was just so easy to use and tbh, the shots were actually comparable, esp in the forest. The only thing this camera doesn't do well is focus quickly for flight shots....or maybe that's down to me!

Here's a Bittern complete with nostril leech (yuk!) from Blashford a couple of weekends ago. Best views I've ever had in over 30yrs birding, never seen the unique way a bittern hunts.....amazing!

The last three are 'bluer' as they were taken through the unopenable hide windows so not bad considering!

Great pics, Adam. I had a similar experience last weekend at Slimbridge - best views ever. Loved the hunting technique with bill-tip dipped in the water, neck outstretched, looking with one eye and then flipping the head over and looking with the other. I'd never witnessed this before. I videoed it with the SX40 and was astounded at the quality when viewed on a large screen HD telly. For those that can access Facebook, there is a portion of the video here - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151340679772017 or photos and videos here http://www.flickr.com/photos/kenturnip/sets/72157632885383846/

Several weeks now since I bought the SX40 and I'm very pleased with it. Turnstone and Cormorant pics taken today.

I used the Sx40 today for the first time in ages today (prefer the 600mm astroscope these days). Attached are a few snaps - they will not win any prizes that's for sure but the beauty of the little SX is that it is so light and portable.

Hardly ever remember to use my Sx40 but it always impresses when I do. Thought I'd get it out for 5 minutes today when there were a few birds near the car.
