I am pretty positive this is a Red-Shouldered, but since it would be a lifer for me I want to double check. Photo taken today, Aug 24. _Q8A2985-1.jpeg_Q8A3000-1.jpeg

Most definitely RSH.

I had seen a jillion of these in Florida, but nowhere else until I visited OR. On an otherwise-dull riparian stroll, a hawk materialised, perched above my head, in perfect RSH habitat, looking red-shouldered, bar-tailed, checker-board-winged...but weirdly rufous.

A quick guide check, of course, confirmed that out west (where they are much less common), the RSH is indeed strikingly rufous, unlike the FL standard, which is strikingly pale-fronted.

Anyway, yes, 100% RSH.
