Hello, A pair of doves have been nesting in a pear tree in my yard. A crow has taken their eggs that had only just been laid. My question is will they return to the nest and lay more eggs?

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

Doves can have between 2-5 clutches of eggs.

Hi George and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I don't know which dove you have there, but I'm presuming Mourning Dove. Here is a link to our Opus article on this species: Mourning Dove - BirdForum Opus you will see that they have several broods each year, and may re-use the nest. Another species of dove may vary though.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group. Sorry, I can’t help with your question.

Hi there Georg and a warm welcome to you ! My feelings are that they will probably change their nesting site.
