I don't think it will happen again this year. The weather just isn't cold enough, although 5 Lessers are regular and 6 Siskins.

nice - I'd love to get that lot in my garden... I had to rely on another friends garden for redpolls. A couple of winters ago he had mealy, lesser, Arctic and Greenland all coming to his feeders, it was an amazing sight.

The wonders of the internet saved me. At the time, none of my field guides had a decent pic of a Redpoll. They all showed them with a huge crest and much redder.

it's certainly a pale bird but you'd need to have more detailed shots to be able to see if it was an Arctic
