How I wish I had a you beaut camera - with a monster zoom,
Instead, an indelible memory seared in my mind, will have to do.
In the soft, late afternoon's gentle glow,
A vision appeared before me, as white as midday snow.
Hallelujah Lord! - for I have seen the light,
A hovering white crucifix, translucent wings alight.
Brilliant against dark fluffy grey skies, holding the merest promise of rain,
Opaque amber sun-rays fan through clouds, like fiddleback grain.
Black-shouldered Kite floating in mid-air, like a bird perched on a wire,
Glaring red twilight piercing eyes, ablaze with wildfire.
Starkly high-lighted, in an ethereal glow,
Large powerful feet hang, of brightest yellow.
Lethal talons, too almighty for just hunting a mouse,
Must have evolved when they were bigger - the size of a grouse.
Glorious, fluttering, instantaneous beacon,
An apparition, of heaven to harken.
Mesmerised - time stood still, as I faded from this 3-D world,
Consciousness floating away, arms outstretched like a bird.
Celestial insight, into the golden white light, of the otherside....
No sense of time; to look back on / or forward to; the source - of the 'dreamtime'.
Present; nothing to do, nowhere to go,
At once infinite & non-existent - pure Zen flow.
Kite's attention shifts, shuffle and glide to scan new terrain,
Return from a moment in time, back into this world again.
