Identification

Similar Species

Distribution

South America: Eastern Brazil (southern Minas Gerais to Espírito Santo and north-eastern São Paulo)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Formerly considered conspecific with Purple-crowned Plovercrest.

Habitat

Atlantic forest and forest edges, observed at heights of 7200 feet. Moves to lower levels in the winter.

Behaviour

Voice is described as a high ticking sound
