Help needed (1 Viewer)

My wife and I are off next week to spend a week near Ballyconneely in Co Galway - can anybody recommend any easily accessible sites as she currently has a broken metatarsal!!

Discovery Series maps 37 & 44 will show all the locations around Ballyconneely.

Omey strand just north of Clifden L5756 good for waders - best on a rising tide - Western & Buff-breasted Sandpipers and American Golden Plover there last year - and can be done from the car. Just be careful with the tide.

The beach L5742 and the football pitch L5842 near the golf course at Aillebrack/Creggoduff near Ballyconneely both have had AGP in the past and viewable from the car.

Sabs Gull in Mannin Bay (just north of Ballyconneely) last wk - again dooable from the car.

The machair at Truska L5845 near Ballyconneely has huge potential for waders - Pecs + AGP there - and you can drive out there Bay at Aughrus Beg L5758 has had Semi P,Kildeer,BW Stilt,Spoonbill,Buff B in the past - some of it can be scoped from car.

Good spots for passerines few & far between but any of the gardens out on the coast worth a try but generally too early for passerines.
