Four Paraná based Brazilian ornithologists, P. Scherer Neto, F. C. Straube, A. Urben Filho and E. Carrano have produced an up to date list of all the birds known to occur (or to have occurred) in Paraná state, southern Brazil. The e-book is in Portuguese with scientific names for the birds. Field research covering several years plus visits to museums in many countries and an extensive literature search determined that 744 species of birds occur in Paraná state, approximately 40% of all birds known to be found in Brazil. This book is dedicated to the "Centenário da Ornitologia Paranaense" (Centenary of Paraná's Ornithology) to be commemorated next year. It also celebrates the pioneer efforts of the Polish naturalist Tadeusz Chrostowski who published the first study of Paraná's avifauna in 1912.
