Puerto Angel boat trip (1 Viewer)

I will be in Oaxaca over Christmas period, and was reading with interest how people on bird tours go on boat trips from Puerto Angel.

Does anyone know how best to do this independently? Should I just go talk to a fishing trip - presumably they should go out 10-15km, off the continental shelf and into the bird zone? Or are there whale watching trips?

I doubt we have the resources to hire a boat and boatman all to ourselves.

I'm sure I can just wing it there, but it'll be great to hear on other's experiences first.
Thanks for any advice!

John
