birding Paraguay (1 Viewer)

Hi all
There seems to be a dearth of information out there regarding birding in Paraguay. Do any BF members have experience birding in Paraguay, particularly in chaco habitats? Any information would be useful to me at this point... I have Wheatley, which is a start and have also checked out the websites of the Fundación Moises Bertoni and Guyra. Does anyone have any leads for me?

Thanks in advance.

Brad

Hi Brad

There is no guide for Paraguay as far as I know. The people of Guyra published a few months ago a Checklist for the country. The guides you could use for the Chaco region are the following:

'Birds of Southern South America and Antarctica'
by Martin R. de la Pena, Maurice Rumboll

'Birds of Argentina & Uruguay. A Field Guide'
by Tito Narosky, Dario Yzurieta

Really don´t know if they cover all the Chaco, but I think it must be around 95%.

try the neotropical bird club (NBC)

there was an expedition to Paraguay by I think Cambridge Uni in the 1990s and a few things were pubished. And Cotinga - the NBC journal - had a few features on the country.
