Scratching Behavior (1 Viewer)

We have two of our feeders outside our windows so we can watch them better. We've noticed that they like to perch on the small branches. Sometimes they will hold the perch with one foot and scratch their side and head like a dog. My camera doesn't really do this justice, but will keep trying to get a better picture.

What you are seeing is a very typical grooming behavior that is common in the animal kingdom

It is normal in birds. Sometimes scratch head from below, and sometimes they move the leg above the wing (quite funny).
