Identification of bird (1 Viewer)

Does anybody have any idea of what kind of bird this is ? I live in Central Texas near Austin. The bird is the size of a sparrow, has bright green feathers, and a bright orange beak. Any info would be helpful .

Welcome to Birdforum.

We do have an ID forum in the main threads where this would most likely get a response as not all bother to read the blogs.

I will see if I can get one of our US members to ID it for you

Hi BarbaraAnn,
Welcome to Birdforum, from another member in Texas!

I've just had a look at your bird and decided it is a female Northern Cardinal. The crest on the top of her head appears to be laid down instead of up, but this is the only bird it could be with the coloring and that bright orange bill. Here's a link to a photo of a female in our Gallery:

Cardinals are very common birds in our backyards in Texas.
