Fantastic shot. I may be wrong, but these look like Beautiful Demoiselles (Calopteryx virgo) as most of the wing on the male is blue with a transparent tip and base.

Thanks for the comments. Sandpiper,Im no damselfly expert so you might be right about the species,Ill wait for a while with the ID and see if someone else has the same opinion.

Digi are you sure you werent following me this weekend lol! I have been watching and photographing this one too though I have to say this is the most amazing dragonfly photo i have ever seen. Those colours are just superb!!

Excellent, Ove!

To be pedantic for a moment, these are damselflies, not dragonflies.

Dragonflies "perch" with their wings stuck out at right-angles to their bodies, whereas damselflies fold their wings back along their bodies.
