A great closeup Deanne. You caught it just at the right angle to show off the eye in that black mask. Easier said then done.

Excellent shot, Deanne. As KC said you really got the eye in a good view- hard to do.

Thanks everyone! I'm still getting used to the new camera and lens so I'm not getting as many good shots as I'd like. You've got to be a lot closer with the 400mm than the scope but the new camera is so much faster! Everything is a trade off.

Very sweet bird and a great shot Deanne. It looks like a Tit to me...? Are you naming tits differently in America, or are they so different that another name is in order?

Very nice shot, the bird looks very fragile, great lighting and composition, well done.

Hansbertil, these birds are in the Family Paridae along with your Tits. They are called Chickadeees because of their calls, they make a "chick-a dee dee dee" sound. Our North American Chickadees, I think we have seven here, are Genus Poecile, I believe your Marsh Tit and Willow Tit are both part of this same Genus - you just use a different common name for them.

Thanks to you and IanC for your kind comments. Much appreciated!

Thanks for info Deanne (and your encouragement) - very interesting. Tits are my favourite birds as they are so unafraid and curious - like innocent children almost. So the song is what separates them...? This one looks very much like the "Sibirian Tit" we have in northern Sweden - not where I live though.
