Black Crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax)

I was late for the First Saturday bird walk, but a gentleman was kind enough to point out this fellow hiding in a tree. I was in a good position to get a clearer shot when a dog ran up and spooked it. Let's hear it for leashes! Looks like an immature adult.
