Black-throated Gray Warbler
This warbler is both monochrome and monotypic (no subspecies). The claimed subspecies "S. n. halseii" is invalid. If you look carefully, a small yellow spot in the lores (front of the eye) is its only color. They breed in mixed pine/oak woodland in the foothills and mountains west of the Rockies and winter in Mexico. This is an adult male with a solid black throat patch. Formerly included in the genus "Dendroica." Some authors spell it "Black-throated Grey Warbler."
